My Ultimate Guide for Malware/Virus Removal (For Beginners)

Recently, a friend of mine have a computer and he didn't open it for a long time. I ask him why did he do it. He answers that he can't do a lot with it because he thinks it had a virus in it. Every time he plug in his flash drive, all of his files were gone.
So now, he asked me to fix and remove these nasty viruses and malwares

Now, I'll share to you my techniques on how to remove malwares and viruses in your computers.

Tips for newbies!

Most of the people, mainly those who don't have a lot of experiences in computers, with these problem don't know what to do. They think that if they had these antivirus software, they were INVULNERABLE to viruses. Well, THEY were WRONG!

Antivirus software cannot 100% detect all the threats. So here are the tips to keep your PC clean from viruses:
  1. Keep the antivirus' virus definition updated. We need to update our antivirus to update its virus definition/ list. Although I don't update my antivirus daily. So, I suggest to update the virus definition once a week or a month.
  2. Scan your PC/Laptop every month (min) or in every 3months (max). This tip is to be sure that all files on your computer are safe from viruses.
How to delete malwares and viruses using my techniques?
First, I'll introduce to you the software that is best for that task

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) is an application for computers running under the Microsoft Windows operating system that finds and removes malware.[4] Made by Malwarebytes Corporation, it was first released in January 2008. It is available in a free version, which scans for and removes malware when started manually, and a paid version, which additionally provides scheduled scans, real-time protection and a flash memory scanner.
 Overview of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
MBAM is primarily a scanner that scans and removes malicious software, including rogue security software, adware, and spyware. MBAM scans in batch mode, rather than scanning all files opened, reducing interference if another on-demand anti-malware software is also running on the computer.

MBAM is available in both a free and a paid version. The free version can be manually run by the user when desired, whereas the paid version can perform scheduled scans, automatically scan files when opened, block IP addresses of malicious web sites, and scan only those services, programs and device drivers that are currently in use. MBAM's user interface is available in 29 languages.

1. Download Malwarebytes' Anti-malware.

Download the F.R.E.E. Version of Malwarebytes here

2. Put it into your flash drive / pen drive. Don't worry if your flash drive were infected with autorun (your files were gone or hidden)

3. Restart your PC/Laptop

4. Enter Safe Mode.

If you are using Windows XP, Vista or 7 press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. Please keep in mind that you need to press the F8 key before the Windows start-up logo appears.

Note: With some computers, if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of pressing and holding the “F8 key”, tap the “F8 key” continuously until you get the Advanced Boot Options screen. If you are using Windows 8, press the Windows key + C, and then click Settings. Click Power, hold down Shift on your keyboard and click Restart, then click on Troubleshoot and select Advanced options.

In the Advanced Options screen, select Startup Settings, then click on Restart.

If you are using Windows XP, Vista or 7 in the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.

If you are using Windows 8, press 5 on your keyboard to Enable Safe Mode.
Windows will start in Safe Mode.

5. Plug your flash drive. Even if your flash drive were infected, it is OK because it is in safe mode, all files were visible.

6. Instal Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

7. After the installation, scan your PC.

8. Wait until it is done scanning.

9. Quarantine all the malwares, viruses and all the malicious files detected. (or you can select Delete all)

10. It will prompt that you'll need to restart your PC, just choose RESTART.

Done! Your PC is free from malicious files!

But wait, your flash drive were still infected!!!
